Gary Whiting, who is based in the new technologies department, said: “Four years ago, we invited 50 to our annual Christmas party for senior citizens in the local area.
“On Tuesday, 151 from across the region attended. Our students and local community continue to work hard throughout the year fund-raising to ensure that we can host the event, but this year we invited local companies and businesses to support us by sponsoring tables.
“The response was overwhelming, meaning that we could make this event the best ever.”
The guests were entertained by performances from the students, music department, staff choir and magician Lorenzo Carcione.
Every guest left with a box of chocolates and a card from their table sponsors and one of the students.
Mr Whiting said: “It is an amazing event — if we could invite everyone in Bolton we would.”
Lauren Holt, aged 17, said: “This year’s has been the best and we have loved being involved.
“It’s been great to see the same faces come back year after year and be so grateful for the efforts that we make.
“It’s a brilliant way to showcase all the amazing things that happen at our school.”
Ellie-Jo Stanley, aged 15, added: “It was a pleasure to sing in it and put a smile on their faces.”
