Posted: 10th March 2025 | Category: Team Our highly anticipated annual Mega Day event on Saturday 1st March 2025, was an unforgettable celebration, with over 200 attendees from catering units across the North of England and the Midlands to Lancashire Manor Hotel in Skelmersdale. The day was packed with learning, idea sharing, and a fantastic chance for our amazing Catering Managers Catering Managers, Area Managers, Operations team members, and Support Office staff to catch up. We recently launched our new strapline, “Fuelling Minds and Nourishing Futures,” along with our NEW Mellors Mantras, summarised in the acronym F-R-E-S-H. This years Mega Day theme centeredaround recognising and celebrating these mantras, to help Mellors units take them back to their teams and infire them in their own catering units. The day began with a warm welcome over coffee and pastries, followed by an engaging introduction from our CEO, Tony Trainor, and Managing Director, Mark Timmerman, who outlined the day’s agenda and shared key company updates in the impressive Great Hall. Teams got involved in a variety of lively and engaging sessions throughout the day, covering topics like the art of active listening, the impact of behaviour on others, marketing success, the importance of fearless feedback for business development, new product launches, effective communication, and much more! Each session was designed to engage attendees in fun and interactive ways, making learning enjoyable and memorable. Highlights included tea and biscuits goodie bags for team bonding, spin the wheel games, foodie bingo, and a Mellors chat show! We were treated to a delicious canape-style lunch, featuring our NEW “Crafted by Mellors” range. This unique launch celebrates Mellors rich history and tradition, showcasing dishes inspired by Mr. T’s infamous 100-year-old recipe book, all with a modern and exciting twist. Executive Chef Stuart Dale also introduced special dishes featuring our exclusive Mellors special sauce. In the afternoon, a bustling trade fair showcased 10 suppliers, including Quorn, Andertons Butchers, Dole, Pasta King, Caternet , HIT Training, Bid Food and Dunsters Farm. This was a fantastic opportunity for Catering Mangers to ask questions and explore new food innovations while benefiting from a wealth of knowledge. Thank you to our amazing supplier for joining us! A Health and Safety help desk was available during lunchtime for any queries related to our new developments and system launches. The Food & Development session provided insight into our NEW “Crafted by Mellors” range, as well as resources for our NEW salad bar offering—an exciting benefit for primary school children enjoying a delicious Mellors meal. The day wrapped up with lots of exciting prize-giveaways and key takeaways from this super day. Congratulations to all the winning teams! To top it off, we were given a sneak peek of our NEW Mellors Tuk Truck, which is set to embark on a tantalising journey across the North of England, serving up taste experiences from around the globe. Keep your eyes peeled, this is COMING SOON! We also raised an amazing £1,300 for charity through your generous hotel room donations! Thank you everyone!
