From day one, students were delighted to be offered a fresh new approach to school meals, with plenty of choice, colour, and creativity on the menu. Whether it’s building the perfect panini at the deli bar, choosing from made-to-order salads and pasta pots, tucking into Street Food favourites – there’s now something for everyone to enjoy. The transformation didn’t stop at the food. The dining hall and serving counters received a full Mellors “Food Happy” makeover, bringing vibrant colours and energy into the space to match the fantastic food on offer. With home-baked treats, fresh fruit, healthy choices, and grab-and-go options, lunchtime has become a real highlight of the school day. Paul Timms, Catering Manager, shared: “The dining area and food offering has completely changed. Children genuinely enjoy their meals now. We cater for all needs and dietary requirements, so nobody is left out. We’ve introduced meal deals, budget-friendly options, breakfast club and grab-and-go choices for students who are on the move at lunchtime.” The school was also chosen as Mellors showcase site for the prestigious North West Family Business Awards judges’ visits. Judges were invited to experience first-hand the quality, and passion that goes into every Mellors meal. It certainly made an impression. Mellors were shortlisted for an incredible six awards and proudly took home two trophies — including the coveted North West Family Business of the Year award 2026! Paul and his team were delighted to host three rounds of judges, with both students and staff enthusiastically sharing their positive experiences. From locally sourced ingredients and freshly prepared meals to nutritious dishes packed with flavour, the feedback reflected the genuine care Mellors brings to every school lunch. Most importantly, the team spirit shines through every day. Paul and his team work seamlessly together, creating a warm and welcoming environment where great food — and happy faces — are always on the menu.
