Posted: 11th March 2026 | Category: Achievements, Team Our hugely popular annual Mega Day took place on 7th March 2026 at Lancashire Manor Hotel, bringing together over 220 team members from across the UK for a day of learning, foodie inspiration and celebration. The event highlighted our FRESH mantras while also celebrating our fantastic triple award win at the Contract Catering Awards. The day was bursting with learning, foodie inspiration and plenty of fun. It gave our fantastic Catering Managers, Area Managers, Operations teams and Support Office team the perfect chance to connect, swap ideas and celebrate everything that makes Mellors so special. This year’s Mega Day focused on bringing our FRESH mantras to life, giving teams plenty of inspiration to take back to their units and add a little extra FRESH to every day. And as if that wasn’t enough, we proudly showcased our triple award hat-trick from the Contract Catering Awards earlier in the week, with our trophies taking centre stage for the whole of #TeamMellors to celebrate! The day kicked off with a warm welcome over coffee and pastries, before an inspiring introduction from our CEO, Tony Trainor, and Director, Mark Timmerman. In the stunning Great Hall, they set the scene for the day ahead, sharing key company updates and giving everyone a taste of what was to come. From there, teams jumped straight into a lively line-up of engaging sessions designed to inspire, challenge and celebrate what we do best. We explored everything from making the most of themed days and added value initiatives to boosting engagement, supporting team wellbeing and diving into succession planning with our HR experts. Every session was packed with practical ideas and plenty of positive energy to take back to our catering units. We even gave compliance a fun twist with an interactive Health & Safety Bingo session – shining a spotlight on common pitfalls (and how to avoid them!) while keeping everyone fully on their toes. Our fantastic Food Development teams truly brought the flavour to the day. The Primary session focused on KS2 pupils, reimagining a more “grown-up” lunchtime offer to help support their transition into secondary school. Meanwhile, the Secondary schools session explored ways to elevate mid-morning break options, tapping into high street trends to keep menus exciting, relevant and seriously tasty! Every session was designed to be interactive, energetic and memorable – with lots of key information for teams to take back to their units and implement. We were thrilled to showcase our beloved Tuk Truck at lunchtime, which is already celebrating its first birthday! The Tuk Truck served up some delights from our “Football Flavours” theme day menu including Poutine and Loaded Fries. Still as delicious as ever, it drew a crowd as Mike Stroud, our Executive Development Chef, and Martin Harrington, Area Manager, cooked up a storm! The afternoon brought even more energy with a buzzing Supplier Trade Fair, where 10 fantastic suppliers – including Quorn, Tugo, Love Joes, Andertons Butchers, Dole, Pasta King, The Opportunity Provider, Bidfood and Dunsters Farm – showcased their latest foodie innovations. It was a great opportunity for Catering Managers to chat face-to-face, ask questions and discover fresh ideas to bring back to their units. A huge thank you to all our amazing suppliers for their support! Suppliers served up a feast for the tastebuds at lunchtime. From Quorn’s exciting new 50:50 products and Bidfood’s high-protein options, to Tugo’s tempting pizzas and Love Joes’ delicious chicken items, there was plenty to enjoy. One highlight from Pasta King, who introduced their new concept brand, UMAMI – created exclusively for Mellors. Celebrating the fifth taste sensation, UMAMI brings bold, exciting flavours to rice, noodles and pasta. With plenty of pots to try, it’s definitely one to watch – coming soon! The day wrapped up in style with plenty of exciting prize giveaways and a chance to reflect on all the fantastic moments from this super Mega Day. Huge congratulations to all of our lucky winners! Supplier Conundrum – Overnight stay at Barton Manor Hotel & Spa – Lisa Wood, Fradley Park Primary School Air Fryer (courtesy of Dunsters) – Wayne Powell, Stoke 6th Form College Spa Voucher – Laura Woodcock, Yoxall St Peters Primary School £100 Voucher – Lisa, The Brunts Academy + MANY MORE PRIZES! We were also delighted to raise an incredible £1,260 for charity thanks to your generous hotel room donations – thank you everyone! The funds will be donated to Zoe’s Place, Liverpool, supporting the wonderful work they do. It was fantastic to bring so many brilliant members of the Mellors family together under one roof, sharing ideas, inspiration and plenty of laughs along the way. We’re already looking forward to welcoming even more attendees for the next Mega Day in 2027! BIG THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for this brilliant day, its always an amazing day and is what makes us #TeamMellors!
