Mellors Named Finalists for the North West Family Business Awards 2026!

Posted: 26th March 2026 | Category: Achievements

Big news! We have been shortlisted onto the finalist list for a whopping 6 categories at the North West Family Business Awards 2026. After a deliciously successful March in London—where Mellors scooped 3 prestigious awards at the Contract Catering Awards, including the coveted Contract Caterer of the Year 2026—it seems the winning streak isn’t cooling down anytime soon.

We celebrated our 30th birthday milestone last year (3 delicious decades of Mellors!) and have proven that family values and fantastic food are a recipe for long-term success. This year, we have been recognised in the following categories:

  • Consumer Services
  • Manufacturing Food & Drink Producers – Large Business
  • Food & Drink Establishments
  • Social Impact Award – Large Business
  • Leadership Excellence Award – Mark Timmerman

It’s been a fiercely competitive year, with a record number of family businesses across the region entering. Yet Mellors has stood out, proving that passion, innovation, and a sprinkle of good old-fashioned family dedication go a long way.

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 8th May 2026, at The Rum Warehouse, Titanic Hotel, Liverpool. The event will be hosted by the inspiring Co-Founders Dave Clarkson and Sue Howorth of The Family Business Community, along with celebrated food and drink writer Nigel Barden.

Mark Timmerman, Mellors Director and Co-Founder, said:
“We’re over the moon to be finalists in so many categories. It’s a true reflection of the family business my dad Tim (Klaus Timmerman) started 31 years ago—a love for food, people, and making a difference. We’ve grown, but our focus on family, great food and a passion for people remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Mellors takes pride in being a family-owned and run catering business, independent and operating across the North West and beyond. Mark stays hands-on, rolling up his sleeves whenever needed, and even goes the extra mile for customers, ensuring high-quality service down to the last crumb!

At Mellors, we don’t just serve food—we craft wholesome, high-quality, school meals that doesn’t cost the earth! We’re “Fuelling Minds and Nourishing Futures.” True to our hands-on culture, Mark even prints his phone number on packaging to ensure every customer feels heard.

Sue Howorth, Co-Founder of The Family Business Community, commented:
“The quality of entries this year made our judges’ decisions a tough challenge. All finalists should be proud of their achievements. We can’t wait to celebrate the region’s family businesses!”

Dave Clarkson added:
“The level of commitment and detail in all applications has been remarkable. The entries truly showcase the strength and diversity of family businesses in the North West.”

Former 2025 winner and this year’s judge, Steve Routledge of Powerlift Materials Handling, also shared:
“The calibre of entries has been outstanding. Family businesses here are proud of their legacy and their impact on communities, while also looking forward with a progressive mindset for future generations.”

A panel of judges will soon be paying Mellors site visits before final winners are revealed at the awards celebration on 8th May 2026.
